The Butterfly Hide and Seek: So, there is this butterfly in the
kitchen this morning. It is small and mousy colored on the outside of
its wings as most of them are for the "how not to be seen effect".
I leave it be for a while but before I let the bouncing-dog-wonder into
the house, I try to get it to flutter somewhere safer than the linoleum
perch it has taken. As I do so, it shows me the inside of its wings in
a burst of rusts and oranges with it dark buff brown. It is then that
I know what our visitor is, a buckeye of some sort. The odd thing about
it is that Saturday, on the trail with Shelby, we saw a buckeye as well.
I took some photographs with the little camera. The butterfly seemed so
clear when I was taking the shots, it remained still and waiting patient
with me. I was really close. Yet when I downloaded the photos it was an
intense game of hide and seek to even find the butterfly in the images.
It was baffling! |
