The Jordan child is growing fast. He was twenty pounds and eight ounces at his six month check up earlier this month and about twenty-seven inches long. He has come a long way from his birth weight of eight pounds two ounces. Every morning when I get him dressed he seems to be outgrowing his clothes!

He has gone through the normal infant run-ins with ear infections but seems to be well now. I had been reading that breast fed babies weren’t supposed to get ear infections but I guess Jordan didn’t read the same texts as I did. Luckily he is showing no signs of the allergies that both his parents are prone to.

We’re been introducing him to solid food little by little for the past month or so. His favorites seem to be mashed potatoes (the real kind, he won’t eat the powdered ones) and applesauce mixed with rice cereal. Still just the mushy stuff for him as he only has two teeth; he does enjoy melons and cucumbers for gnawing. He shows the greatest appetite when we all sit down to eat together; we try to find the time to do that as often as we can.

Louis’ life is fairly hectic now. He’s in his last few days of classes before the three week period of finals. He puts in lots of hours a day between papers that need doing, classes notes that need outlining, and his everyday reading load. I make jokes about chaining him to his desk but I also try to help him take time out as well.

With Jordan care and Lou’s schooling we don’t have a lot of free time but we take the time we have. When we can get a whole day off of Law School the three of us take a drive out to the coast to visit Muir Woods, the home of the grand and majestic redwoods, or into Berkeley for a day on the town. For filling shorter periods of free time the warm weather lets us take swims in the pool (Jordan loves the water as much as we do! And is taking swimming lessons with me this summer) and Davis offers a lovely setting for walks. Jordan and I are out walking for an hour or two, rain or shine, almost everyday and Louis often joins us in the evenings.

We’re enjoying our last month of spring here before we head off to Portland town for the summer months. From the end of April to the middle of August, Louis will be externing with the Oregon supreme court; a job with no monetary compensation but a great experience and a fine resume credit. Jordan, Ellen, Bill, Eric Katz (a friend of mine since junior high school, who is attending grad school up there next fall) and me are heading up there next week. The quartet of friends will be helping me find a place for the Abronson family to during our stay. Louis and I are looking forward to the time in Oregon also as a trial period because we have considered moving there after his graduation.
